If it's feng shui and the oriental experience you're after, one of our Japanese ofuro style baths is for you. Designed to allow the bather to sit up to the neck in water yet still fillable from a normal hot water cylinder, these baths are the best of both worlds. Unlike traditional Japanese ofuro, our ofuro's are not designed to be left full of water. This follows the trend in many modern Japanese homes. One of the main reasons for not using the old system is that there is no requirement for a disinfectant such as chlorine. Given the many health scares surrounding chlorine, bromine and other disinfectants, as well as the odour issue, we are confident this is the safest and most environmentally friendly system. traditional (NEW) or enhanced
We make two styles of ofuro: traditional and enhanced. The traditional style ofuro has a 36mm thick solid wall and is available in the following woods: European Oak (White Oak), American Red Oak, European Ash, Chinese Maple, American Cherry, American Black Walnut, Indonesian Kempas and Malayan Merbau. Traditional ofuro's do not incorporate an overflow and so have lower sides.
The enhanced ofuro's generally have a 100mm thick wall which is constructed in the same fashion as our other baths and include an overflow. The thicker wall is ideal for resting a wine glass and the core of insulation gives the ultimate in heat retention. The picture below is of one our enhanced ofuro's.
